After visiting the New England Aquarium and painting the whale, this image popped in my head. I debated whether to paint a skeleton within the shark, even if sharks only have cartilage. The silly skeleton series defies the norm but in the end, the lovely boney jaw sufficed in this image.

This scene has repeated throughout my life. With family in Boston, I have watched thousands of planes land and take-off from Logan. The buzzing engine noise rings in my mind. Surprisingly, it's a rather soothing sound as it reminds me of enjoying time on G'ma's porch, listening to her stories and giggling as she continued to talk when the deafening planes flew over.

My amazing few hours in London were spend briskly walking through the rain taking in all the sights. Beginning with the view of Parliament out my hotel window, walking along the Thames and curiously watching the London Eye rotate high above the city, to snapping photos of Windsor Castle and the details of public sculptures. As evening quickly took over, the city bustled with mini cars and the business folk mixed with tourists. I peeked into cozy pubs and admired the lights of the city. Big Ben is an impressive sight, day or night. I stood beneath its huge clock tower and noticed the amazing details of it construction.

This painting is a fond memory, until I return again.

A new experience for me since the images had to be painted backwards - the highlights first, then work toward the back of the image! Oh and the color is so different from the inside of the window to what is displayed street-side.

A Thank You Painting

Salem Valley Vet - Dr. Bob Baratt and Jessica deserve kudos for once again helping Walli the cat. So why not paint a pair of horses... ok confusing? Dr. Baratt is a dentist who works with horses, dogs and cats.

Over the past year he has given a bonus to Walli's '9 Lives' - Walli is an adult boy who was left at Wallingford Shelter with a note "Good Cat, Bad Teeth". Sadly, Walli was passed-over for a new home for months. He has gone through countless surgeries and medicines, diet specifications but now enjoys a loving, playful and stress-free life with Sonja, another adult cat from the shelter.

New Canaan Girls and The Yellow Bumblebees Soccer Teams

For the past 7 years, I have been illustrating the youth soccer team mascots for a client who gives these as her Christmas presents. I have drawn everything from spiders to alligators, pink panthers to explosions. I smile each time I hear of this project knowing the little girls who receive the illustrations are growing up and will always think of their kind aunt.

I eased my travel-weary mind with a nice meal, yummy stout and my drawing utensils in hand. This is one of two sketches I played with throughout the evening, re-engergizing me. Today I will head into the studio prepping work for an upcoming show at Eli's - so excited!

"Rockefeller Center Goes Green"... in progress

I voted today.... I also worked in my studio - amazingly I was able to handle both today [sarcasm]. This latest drawing was an idea I had last year when the 'go green' mantra filled the commercial world. It seemed like every company re-released products with labels of 'green' and 'organic' as if living this way was invented in 2009.

I envisioned this image while living NYC... I wandered around Rockefeller Center the evening after its Tree Lighting event (the tree was from CT) and smiled at all the brilliant lights and bustling onlookers. I found myself wondering if Santa's elves were spinning diligently on stationary bicycles behind the ice rink - their speeding efforts churning energy to illuminate the immense tree.

Drink and Draw Has Begun Again

A few of the offerings

This week I returned from Vermont where I hiked, ate yummy foods at a farmers market and gain artistic inspiration... My friends and I will be meeting up weekly for 'Drink n' Draw' or if people rather 'Dine n' Draw'. We'll go to our local haunt, The Cardinal's Nest munch on pizza, beer and their oh so good Caesar salad.
